Changes in version 0.1.0.9000 - Image URLs without a file extension, such as the CRAN badge from usethis::use_cran_badge(), no longer get .png added, which broke them. - Code is now linked by quartodown itself instead of downlit, so code blocks keep Quarto's highlighting, linking is more consistent, and builds work offline. - The default dark theme is now a dark version of Quarto's default theme, with a neutral near-black page and soft blue links, rather than darkly. Use theme: dark: darkly to keep the old look. - build_site() builds the site in _quarto/_site/, and replaces the one in docs/ only when it's complete. So the previous site stays in place during a build, and after a failed one. preview_site() now serves it with nanonext rather than servr, so it keeps working while build_site() runs. An open page reloads if the new build changed it. - use_quartodown() translates an existing _pkgdown.yml: the navbar and articles: become navbar: items and menus, template settings become theme:, quarto: settings and files in _quartodown/, and redirects keep pkgdown's addresses of the vignettes and changelog working. It lists what it couldn't translate. - Links to an internal topic without a page now give a warning. - The reference index shows lifecycle badges, and reference: takes pkgdown's has_lifecycle() selector. A section titled internal is hidden, as in pkgdown. - New development: mode: setting in _quartodown.yml, as in pkgdown: with devel (or auto and a .9000 version), the site for the development version is built into docs/dev/, next to the released version's. A switch next to the navbar's title goes between them. auto keeps a package that isn't on CRAN yet in docs/, as unreleased. Content marked .quartodown-devel or .quartodown-release is shown on only that site. - New workers argument to build_site(), to build the site with several processes. use_quartodown_action()'s workflow uses 4. - The reference pages' examples now run before rendering, all in one R process, rather than Quarto starting one for each page, which made most of the build's time for packages with many examples. - The package's logo, man/figures/logo.svg or .png (.svg if both exist), now shows right of the title of every page, not just the home page, with logo-light.svg or .png in light mode if it exists. logo: false in _quartodown.yml turns it off. - build_site() reports its progress in a few steps (installing the package, writing the Quarto project, rendering, linking code), each with the time it took, and where it built the site. When a page fails to render with quiet = TRUE, Quarto's error is now shown rather than a suggestion to rerun with quiet = FALSE. - The changelog page is now titled "Changelog", with its versions' headings a level down, and links its source, NEWS.md. - The search box's magnifying glass and clear button are now readable in dark mode. Changes in version 0.1.0 (2026-11-04) - Initial release.
